can i represent myself at mediation?

absolutely. i have a great deal of experience mediating with self-represented parties.

it is important to keep in mind that legal representation is not an all or nothing consideration. there may be advantages to consulting with a lawyer before participating in mediation, to get a better understanding of the legal remedies available to you or otherwise engaging what is known as "unbundled" legal services.

it is also important to remember that choosing to represent yourself in mediation does not mean that you have to participate alone. i encourage self-represented parties to bring a support person along to mediation, particularly if they might get emotional during the meeting.
